What are UA Premier Awards? 

UA Premier Awards represent the highest honors bestowed at The University of Alabama. These prestigious awards recognize excellence in knowledge, citizenship, and positive contributions to campus life. Recipients of Premier Awards exemplify the spirit of the Capstone community through their outstanding achievements and impact. 

What is the application deadline?

All applications, nominations, and reference letters must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on November 5. 

What happens if I miss the submission deadline?

Unfortunately, late submissions cannot be accepted. It is recommended that you submit your application/nomination and all supporting materials well ahead of the Nov. 5 deadline.

Who is eligible to apply or be nominated?

Students: Only students are eligible to apply for Premier Awards.

Faculty and Staff: All members of the UA community can nominate qualified students, faculty and staff.

Can I be considered for more than one Premier Award?

No, applicants can only be considered for a single Premier Award. If you receive multiple nominations, we will notify you and allow you to choose which award to apply for.

Do I have to wait to be nominated to apply?

No, students can apply directly and indicate their nominator in their application. Nominators and references are interchangeable in this process.

Are nominated candidates evaluated differently from those who apply with support from a nominator/reference?

No, candidate packages are considered equally in the evaluation process.

Should I inform my nominator/reference that I’ve listed them as a reference?

Yes, it’s advisable to communicate with your nominator/reference to ensure they write your reference letter.

Is a nominator/reference letter mandatory?

Yes, a nomination/reference letter is required. Keep in mind that specific awards may have additional requirements.

Can I serve as my own nominator?

No, you must have a reference/nomination from a member of the UA community. While students are able to apply for student awards, they are still required to list a reference who will submit a letter of support/recommendation on their behalf.

If the Premier Award that I’m applying for requires more than one reference letter and I only have one, will I be considered?

Unfortunately, no. To be considered for the award, you must meet all the listed requirements.

Is a resume required?

Yes, including a well-prepared resume is essential for your Premier Awards application. It provides valuable context about your achievements, experiences and qualifications.
